Demystifying HDR
Join us at our February 2021 LAPPG meeting for an open forum with Senior Colorist, Andrea Chlebak, and Color Scientist, Matthew Tomlinson to explore HDR and how it can be harnessed as a storytelling tool.
PRESENTERS
Andrea Chlebak, has spent the past 16 years honing her skills as a colorist for major studios and indies alike.
Canadian-born, Chlebak’s recent work has included supervising color for Seth Rogen’s “An American Pickle” for HBOMax, as well as collaborating for a third time with award-winning cinematographer Gregory Middleton ASC to supervise color for Netflix’s feature “A Babysitter’s Guide to Monsterhunting”.
Major credits include Hollywood studio films such as Neill Blomkamp’s “Elysium” and “Chappie”, as well as award-winning indies “Mandy” and “Prospect”.
Adept at collaborating with directors, cinematographers, visual effects supervisors and editors to develop and refine the final look and feel for a film, her approach, “Adds clarity and dimension to the creative experience and unearths beautifully polished images” says Chlebak, “I like to bring an artistic sensibility and technical rigor to all of my projects.”
With over 25 years of experience, Matthew Tomlinson is currently the Color Scientist at Harbor where he services projects by ensuring color consistency from pre-production through final color as well as creative look development. Prior to joining Harbor, he held Imaging Science positions at SHED, EFILM, Tippett Studios, P.O.P and Bossfilm where he worked on projects including “Suicide Squad”, “Skyfall”, “The Avengers”, “Matrix: Revolutions” and “Air Force One”.
His recent credits include Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, Louis Leterrier’s “Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”, Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman”, Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland,” and Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman.”
