Well Go USA Entertainment is a distribution company specializes in action, genre and independent films made around the world. So, when they maxed out their previous storage solutions, they knew it was time for enhanced storage that could handle their high-performance needs. Not only did they need a cost-effective solution that can easily scale with their growing library, they also needed servers that could handle high-res video editing, archival storage and backups. That is when they turned to Synology.
To meet these criteria, they selected an all-flash rackmount Synology NAS, designed for I/O-intensive applications, and fitted it with multiple expansion units. With this unit, Well Go is able to handle the intense editing demands for its high-res video files and store large project folders they are actively working on. Additionally, they were able to use SSD caching for frequently accessed files, which enhanced the systems overall performance.
Once an active video project is completed, they transfer the data to a high-density Synology unit for archival storage, which also stores their full media content library and provides easy access for editors through a shared folder on every workstation. With support for ProRes video playback, finding media stored on this unit is streamlined and more efficient. The high-density unit is also able to scale up to 1 petabyte of storage without introducing more volumes, which allows for efficient, cost-effective expansion as their library grows.
Well Go USA also utilizes multiple backup packages provided by Synology to secure all of their work. Their virtual machines and all-flash servers are backed up to the high-density unit. Then, they complete their 3-2-1 backup strategy with an off-site rackmount server. This ensures all of their work is protected in case of disaster.
