It’s always an absolute pleasure to have Mary Plummer, Workflow Specialist Fairlight Audio Post Production, return to present at LAPPG. Mary started her presentation by sharing that Blackmagic Design has just released 19.1 and that although she was just going to be focusing on audio features there is a full post production suite solution available to you when you work with DaVinci Resolve. Mary pointed out the difference between the free version vs. the Studio version. Mary started with showing in 19.1 it’s much easier to identify the clips. Mary then showed the Music Remixer which uses AI and requires DaVinci Resolve Studio. Next we looked at Dialogue Separator, which requires the Studio version of 19 and which has three controls unlike Voice Isolation from 18 which had one control, a single knob solution. Then Mary showed the Ducker feature which is part of the free version. It’s built right in and with 19.1 you can use more than one source track. Next, Mary showed the Auto Pan which tracks the motion of an object in the viewer and then creates a pan curve to match the action! With the Studio version you can use the Auto pan button and now with 19.1 any parameter that you right click on, it will show you that automation curve. DaVinci Resolve Studio has all the immersive formats built in and with the new Space View Scope, it will show you the immersive sounds. Mary finished the session by answering a number of great questions from the group.
