It was great “seeing” so many of you at our August meeting for Exploring Adobe Productions. Join us as we head online again in September via ZOOM, from the comfort of your home .

The Role of the VFX Editor

What is a VFX Editor?  What do they do?  Do they create VFX?  Well, that’s part of it.  Do they use After Effects?  Sometimes.  What are those shiny balls for?

We’ll be exploring these questions with Richard Sanchez, a VFX Editor on the soon to be released film, Bill and Ted Face the Music.

The position of the VFX Editor is probably one of the most misunderstood roles in post production, but it certainly doesn’t need to be.  It’s also an increasingly crucial role as there is simply no such thing as a film without VFX.  200 VFX, 2000 VFX that’s a lot of material to sort out and deliver.  Let’s pull the curtain back on the position.  Richard will discuss what he wishes he knew when he first started in the role.

Richard Sanchez was an assistant editor on I’m Dying Up Here, Table 19, The Good Place, UFO Hunters, and the Netflix film, Naked. He has been a visual effects editor on Hulu’s Catch-22 and recently wrapped Bill & Ted Face The Music. Richard also co-created and delivers exceptional content in the popular training program – Master the Workflow’s Feature Film Assistant Editor Immersion 1.0.

We’re excited to hangout with you online again!

*As with our regular LAPPG meetings we are planning to have a version of our popular giveaway. In order to participate, be sure when you register to use your real name, valid email address and current phone number so we can reach you if you win. To be eligible to win one of the amazing prizes, you must stay until the end of the event. (It’s only a hour-long meeting.) Winners will be chosen offline after the meeting and notified directly.

(Space is limited! You must register to attend and the first 100 registered attendees that “arrive” at the meeting on Zoom will be admitted. After that everyone else can catch the meeting LIVE on YouTube where it will be streaming.)
