For our February meeting we turned the spotlight on our Wellbeing with help from our new friends from Wellbeing in Entertainment and the Creative Arts (WECA). We were very lucky to have Behavioral Health Clinician and Consultant and Co-Founder of WECA, Shaina Fawn and Facilitator, Producer, Wellbeing & Grief Care Consultant and Coach, Founder at Grief at Work, Ari Simon leading this session. We started with a mindfulness moment and then reviewed the limited research on the subject of wellbeing for workers in the entertainment industry. We then broke down dimensions of wellbeing as well as components of psychological wellbeing. We discussed red flags and common threats to wellbeing and we were presented with a scenario which we broke down as a community to see the issues and problems a fictional editor was going through. The presenters touched in ways of addressing isolation as well as for the 4 E’s of staying well at work. The group was very appreciative and thankful that Shaina and Ari helped share the research and created a safe space for us to explore these topics. The also have a Wellbeing Essentials course on the Wellbeinginentertainment.org website for people who want to dive deeper and learn more.
