It was a real treat having some of our European friends from SGO visit with us this month. Rather than exploring their creative software programs like Mistika Boutique and Mistika VR, we shifted focus to a bit more of the technical and looked at Mistika Workflows. At the beginning of our meeting, Managing Director Geoff Mills explained that this application has garnered a lot of attention recently at NAB as a real “game changer” by many in the industry for its use in solving and automating those processes that are time consuming and which often need to be managed manually. Mistika Boutique Production Manager Adrián González Díaz demoed the application for us first showing the layout of the software including the list of inputs, tasks, and outputs and then showing how to build a simple pipeline and the tasks that he wanted to automate. Then we looked at a VFX pulls pipeline which was divided into three workflows starting with the conform workflow, an uploading to ShotGrid workflow, and a media management workflow. Adrian also showed that Mistika Workflow is completely open and how you can add your own functionalities because it is Python based. At the end of the presentation, Marketing Manager Eva Panjan assisted with the Q & A where Adrian answered questions from our members. We appreciate SGO for bringing this game changing program to us fresh from NAB!
