ON SHOWTIME'S "YELLOWJACKET"
Long hours, working late, synching dailies, punctuality, flexibility, and problem solving are just some of the duties of an Assistant Editor. Join us online for our April 2023 meeting as Emmy Award nominated editor Kevin D. Ross, ACE returns to the LAPPG to discuss cutting the Showtime hit, “Yellowjackets” along with Daniel Williams, his assistant editor on Season 1. We’ll learn how Daniel was promoted to lead editor for Season 2, and in addition to discussing their workflow and how they worked as a team, Kevin and Daniel will shine a light on the qualities and skills that made Daniel a strong candidate for advancement and what you can add to your own toolbox so you can do the same.

KEVIN D. ROSS, ACE
Kevin has spent the entirety of this 30+ year film career in editorial. From his first paid job as a second assistant editor on the non-union feature “Kickboxer 2” to his most recent work on “Yellowjackets” season 2, He has watched first-hand how post production was evolved from 35mm film shows to the latest in non-linear productions. The transition from assistant ranks to editor was not always smooth sailing, but along the way, he has amassed more than 160 episodes of TV and ten features to his editor resume. Kevin has been nominated twice for Emmys and Eddie editing awards.

DANIEL WILLIAMS
Daniel was born and grew up in Maryland where he went to Towson University. He graduated with a Bachelors in Electronic Media/Film after which he worked for the Discovery Channels’ in-house production company as an Assistant Editor for 2 years in Silver Spring Maryland. In 2014 he moved to Los Angeles were he worked 3 years in reality television before moving to scripted content in 2017. He met and started to work for Kevin Ross in 2018 and worked with him for 4.5 years on many projects until being moved up to Editor on “Yellowjackets” Season 2.
