Join us for our December meeting:
COLOR GRADING: WHAT YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW – PART 2
We are thrilled to end the year with a return visit of one of our favorite presenters, Juan Ignacio Cabrera! He will be sharing part 2 of “Color Grading: What you REALLY Need to Know” and it’s okay if you missed part 1, Juan will bring you up to speed. Topics will include: Good Color Grading on every budget, techniques, good practices and the importance of calibration & color management. For those who attended our March meeting you know that Juan not only is overflowing with valuable information but he is also extremely entertaining and insightful so come prepared for a great lesson on color from one of Hollywood’s busiest colorists.
EDITORIAL & VFX WORKFLOW FOR QUANTUM BREAK
After the networking break, Juan has agreed to stay and share the Editorial & VFX workflow for Quantum Break, a unique interactive gameplay and integrated live-action television show. It is live-action and the actor’s story-line and outcome is affected by the player’s choices throughout the game. Serving as VFX-Supervisor and Colorist, Juan used SGO Mistika at his studio, LightBender for Color Grading, along with a team of 60 people from three different countries for the VFX. Come to discover the challenges of the future of television and gameplay!
Juan started working in the Post-Production field 20 years ago. Before focusing his career on Color Grading and Stereoscopy, he worked professionally as a 3D animator, digital compositor and VFX supervisor; making him an unusually complete professional with a broad scope of the post-production field.
Juan relocated from his hometown of Madrid, Spain to Los Angeles, CA in 2011 and is currently the most experienced SGO Mistika operator living in the U.S.
Earlier this year, Juan won two AIS Awards for his stereoscopic work on “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”. He has also worked on films such as “Transformers: Age of Extinction”, ”Star Trek: Into Darkness” and “10 Cloverfield Lane”, among many others.
Juan is also the Technical Editor of the book “3D Postproduction: Stereoscopic Workflows and Techniques” written by Rick Baumgartner.
