Vincent Maza and Michael Krulick presented the new features of AVID Media Composer 5. This high-speed software can work with more formats and in more ways than ever before. AVID 5 is ideal for offline, file-based, and even mobile editing. They showed how this new version makes it easier to directly access and edit RED Files through AMA, without transcoding as images are scaled to HD frame size. This new version also makes work natively with QuickTime video formats, including Apple ProRes and H.264 and you can edit video and audio by dragging and dropping elements in the timeline. Vincent and Michael demonstrated ways to break some of the common media barriers to make editing faster and answered many member’s questions.
