September 2014 photos

September’s meeting included a screening of an emotional, creative and ambitious Sundance short film called, “Me +Her.” We were lucky enough to have the Writer/Director Joseph Oxford and Cinematographer Bradley Stonesifer with us to discuss their amazing journey creating this fascinating film. Then accomplished LAPPG member, Tal, joined us to discuss his work as a colorist and online editor on network shows such as “Dancing with the Stars” “Deal or No Deal”, “Wipeout” and “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.”

Distilling the wisdom of the 17 editors interviewed in his book FilmCraft: Editing, Variety chief film critic Justin Chang discusses the crucial role of this oft-misunderstood craft, specifically how good (and bad) editing can impact the rhythm of a narrative, the quality of a performance and the emotional impact of a story.

After the break we had our 3rd LAPPG Plug-in Showcase where we showed some of the hottest and most useful video and audio plugins on the market including plug-ins from: Pond5, Audio Ease and Red Giant.
