DCS Post Expo 2023 Updates

We’re excited to be joing our friends at the Digital Cinema Society on Saturday, April 1st from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Canon in Burbank, CA!

Following are some updated details on the upcoming DCS Post event.

It may fall on April Fool’s Day, but this is no joke…After a 3 year pause the Digital Cinema Society will again hold their Post Expo at Canon Burbank on the afternoon of Saturday, April 1st from 1PM to 5PM.

Presentations include:

Assistant Editors Zekun Mao and Aashish D’Mello, members of the Academy award winning editorial team from Everything Everywhere All at Once, who will discuss how they used Adobe Premiere and Frame.io to meet the challenges of keeping all the varied assets organized for such a complex storyline, the technical workflow, and their personal career paths.

Jess Loren, CEO and Erick Geisler, Creative Director of To Whom It May Concern Productions will discuss how they leverage Resolve, Blackmagic Cloud, and Virtual Production technology on the shows they produce at their L.A. area facilities such as Wedding Talk, Crackle, and Chicken Soup For The Soul.

Ian Vertovec, Supervising Colorist & Founder of Light Iron, and Cinematographer Brett Pawlak will discuss working together on major motion pictures such as Just Mercy and Short Term 12. They will dive into the visual language a DP and Colorist use to communicate, the importance of testing and designing looks during camera prep, and how new technology is being employed to improve creative workflows.

Avid’s Michael Krulik will give an update on Media Composer including improvements to the “Export to Pro Tools” workflow and enhancements to the “Copy Media” capabilities with Avid NEXIS | EDGE.

Canon’s David Doko will present their latest reference monitoring technology with an emphasis on HDR.

Philip Hodgetts, the CEO of Intelligent Assistance, a technology developer specializing in metadata-enabled, XML-integrated workflows will give an update on their Lumberjack System including Builder NLE, the only NLE developed for editing Video and Audio with text.

Some of the experts already assembled will be joined by Liam Ford, SVP of Engineering & Technical Operations at Light Iron and Cinematographer and noted VFX Producer Phil Holland for a panel discussion led by our Host for the day, Canon Fellow Michael Bravin. They’ll discuss the challenges and benefits of the latest trends including Advanced Resolutions, HDR, and Virtual Production.

The event is open to all, but RSVPs are mandatory.
