CONGRATS TO LAPPG MEMBERS FOR TAKING 1ST PRIZE AT “ON LOCATION: THE LOS ANGELES VIDEO PROJECT”
Writer, director, editor and LAPPG Member Shahriar Rahman teamed up with fellow LAPPG member and composer Matt LaPoint to create the short project, “Dream of a Resident Tourist” and took 1st prize in the 2-4 minute category at the “On Location:The Los Angeles Video Project.” This contest enlisted filmmakers throughout the Los Angeles community to act and serve as Ambassadors of LA and share what these artists call their LA; an insider perspective into this diverse, cosmopolitan city and its neighborhoods.
On October 20th, 2012 all the finalist films were premiered at a red carpet event downtown.

COLLABORATIVE WORKFLOW EVENT WITH HOLLYWOOD DI
What: Innovations in Digital Acquisition and File-based Workflow
When: October 20th 2012 – 10am to 4pm
Where: The Lot – West Hollywood
Hollywood DI in conjunction with its strategic partners invites you to an Open House on Saturday October 20th from 10am to 4pm. As well as presentations and demonstrations of the latest in digital capture and workflow applications, we are pleased to announce that award winning cinematographer, Shane Hurlbut, ASC, will be presenting several brand new cameras from Canon and Blackmagic Design.
On display in the exhibition area will be working demonstrations from Aberdeen LLC, Assimilate, BlackMagic Design, Christy’s Editorial, Codex Digital, ColorFront, Dolby Digital, FilmLight, LumaForge, Revolution Cinema Rentals, Sonnet Technologies and Sony Electronics. We will highlight the use of streamlined workflows to increase efficiencies in the production and post pipeline at the same time as reducing costs and enhancing overall image quality and production value.
Doors to the Fairbank’s Main Hall where the Expo will be held open at 10am. There will also be look management and color correction demonstrations held in the Fairbanks Theater throughout the course of the day – further details are available on the Hollywood DI website at www.hollywooddi.com

Canon’s 4K Arsenal for Storytelling:
Shane will take you on an immersive journey of innovation and discovery with the new Canon 4K platform. Camera etiquette, workflow, short cuts, tech talk, color correction and new rig systems that will increase your speed and accuracy in the field. Use the unique qualities of these compact cameras to best tell your stories.

Pulling Back the Curtain in Color Correction with the New Line of 4K Cameras:
Shane will discuss the color correction process of the Canon RAW 4K files from the C500 and MJPEG 4K Canon LOG files of the 1DC, as well as the RAW 12 BIT 2.5K files from the Black Magic Cinema Camera.
